A few of the procedures which are followed in the Cath Lab are:

• Coronary Angiogram is an imaging test where a dye is used to show if there is any narrowing down the coronary arteries using X-ray images.
• Renal Angiogram is an imaging test where a dye is used to show if there is any narrowing of renal arteries using X-ray images.
• Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI), simply called Angioplasty, which is a non-surgical procedure, is followed to treat the narrowed coronary arteries.
• Percutaneous Transluminal Renal Angioplasty ( PTRA) is a Minimally Invasive Procedure to treat narrowed renal arteries by Balloon Dilatation and stenting.
• ASD, VSD – is a congenital disability that is caused due to a hole in the wall between the two chambers of the Heart.
• PDA – is a congenital heart defect where oxygen-rich blood goes back to the Lungs instead of going to the rest of the body
• Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator (ICD) is a battery-operated device that is placed under the skin, and thin wires are connected to the heart. Whenever the heart isn’t functioning correctly, the device sends shock waves to the centre to get back to its normal rhythm.
• A Pacemaker is usually implanted to regulate the slow electrical conduction system of the heart. Pacemakers are placed under the pocket of skin, usually below the collar bone and leads which is an insulated wire connected to the pacemaker on one end and others in heart chambers.
• TAVI & TMVR – Minimally invasive valve repair procedures by implanting a new valve without removing the old, damaged valve.
• IVUS – Intravascular ultrasound is an imaging modality to assess, quantify, and identify procedural complications and guide stent sizing.
• ROTA – Rotablation is a procedure attempting to bore out hard calcific deposits followed by stenting.
• Transesophageal Echocardiogram (TEE) is a procedure that examines the heart and its chambers during an ultrasound. TEE is only performed under heavy sedation or Anaesthesia.
• EPS & RFA – Electrophysiology Study is done by an invasive Cardiac Electrophysiologist to study heart electrical activity and determine the cause of irregular heart rhythm. Radiofrequency ablation is a procedure done based on EP Study which aims to control the abnormal heart rhythm by using radio frequency to stop the electrical pathway causing the heart to beat faster.
